This is a great opportunity to own two nice Altec Lansing 515-8G HP woofers with close serial numbers and matching ohm readings. They are in excellent condition. The dust caps are original. The frames and magnets are in nice condition.

The dust caps are not indented and are nice. The cones look good, showing minor aging. There are no rips or tears in the surround.

There are no punctures to the cones. I replaced the cork gaskets on the front to improve the look since this particular pair was used as a front mounting woofer in the prior owner's system.

They sound great and have no voice coil rub. They are 8 ohm woofers and register a DCR of 5.2 each. The 515-8GHP is the most efficient loudspeaker Altec has ever produced.

The horn-loaded design of the 515-G Series ensures that the 515-8G HP performs optimally in all vented horn enclosures. According to Altec Lansing, the Altec 515 G series is designed for unsurpassed performance when used in low frequency horn and vented horn enclosures. They are the highest performance low frequency drivers that Altec has ever produced. In-depth research into the properties of low frequency horns and vented horns has produced three drivers which are optimum for horn applications(515-8G, 515-16G, 5158G HP).

When coupled with an appropriate horn, the 515-G Series loudspeakers provide the best possible combination of wide response, high efficiency, lowdistortion, and directivity control. The 515-G Series loudspeakers incorporate Altec's largest magnet structure, an edgewound aluminium flatwire voice coil, a light cone assembly, and a low distortion cloth suspension. The woofers have a free air resonance of 37Hz.

They have an RMS of 200W. They are 15" woofers, but are considered 16" woofers simply because of the frame diameter. They weigh approximately 30 lbs apiece. The highest recommended crossover frequency for these is 2.5kHz. They are great for enclosures such as the 816a, 817a, 8286, and 210/211 as well as many others. You get exactly what you see pictured.
